Asmal Makhdum

AWS Certified Solutions Architect

Hello. Salaam. Namaste. Bonjour. Hola.

Welcome to my website, it's nice to see you.

My name is Asmal, I have recently set myself on to a path of changing careers and am looking to secure a role as a solutions architect; and whilst I lack professional experience within AWS, I thought it would be a good idea to get some real life, extra-curricular experience and develop my skill set as to continually showcase my abilities for any organisation I am fortunate enough to work with and for.

My professional experience demonstrably shows that I would be an asset to any team and organisation, and give everything my absolute best.

For those who know me, thank you for your support and for not laughing at me when I sent you a link to my website. I assure you this isn't the teenage angsty website blog I know some of us had in our younger years (you know who you are). I can only imagine the internal groan you expressed when I sent you the original link, despite that though, you came, and I am grateful for it.

For those who don't know me, thank you to you too. I am not sure what use my website will be to you, but I appreciate your presence here nonetheless; I hope that you find it useful, even if slightly, but at the very least, interesting.

To prospective employers - thank you for your consideration, I hope this website provides you with the confidence in my ability and aptitude and enables you to say, "You're hired".

I am hoping this website can be a visual track of my progression and development over time, hopefully showcasing my improvement in skills going from the basic/bare aesthetic you see here and now, to (hopefully) an extensive website showing years of gaining knowledge, skills, understanding and, most importantly, experience.

I am never happy thinking "I know enough" - there is always something to learn and so, once again, welcome and I hope you stay for the journey.

Experience since joining AWS Academy

  • Experience with building, both in AWS Console free tier, Digital Cloud Training challenge labs, and Qwiklabs.
  • Ongoing Building with Well Architected Labs, and AWS Workshops
  • Strong understanding of AWS services.
  • Ongoing learning and experience with Python, via CodeAcademy, DataCamp
  • Ongoing learning with HTML + CSS with Code Institute

A sample list of labs completed through Qwiklabs, DCT challenge labs, WA Labs, and AWS Workshops can be found by clicking here - however this is not a complete list of everything I've undertaken and completed, and will be updated on a frequent basis and I continue to gain experience.  I am also currently undertaking ongoing self-learning in Python and SQL with CodeAcademy & DataCamp.

My professional life prior to the cloud has always been in highly challenging, dynamic and fluid environments.  My time working in a global brand such as Mothercare, working in mental health as an employee, manager and busines owner; and my time as an police officer have all provided me with a plethora of transferable skills that would enable and allow me to succeed in the future I aim to achieve, as a Solutions Architect.
